Always-on databases now support high availability
Run a primary with 2–10 replicas on separate machines, and choose from two new, larger plans.
Choose High availability when you create an always-on database. A highly available database runs one primary and 2–10 replicas (2 by default), each on its own machine. If the primary fails, a replica takes over and the connection address moves to the new primary automatically.
Connections are closed when a database restarts or fails over, so make sure your client reconnects.
Each node is billed at the plan price. This release also adds two larger plans:
| Plan | vCPU | Memory | Per node / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-16 | 1 | 8 GiB | $48 |
| S-32 | 2 | 16 GiB | $95 |
For example, S-32 with one primary and two replicas costs 3 × $95 = $285 per month. See Pricing for every plan.
